Mysore is one of the 
Indian princily states. It lies in the south of India completely surrounded by the British controlled areas of India. It is a puppet of 
United Kingdom and therefore it cannot engage in war on its own. That makes it hard to westernize as conquest is usually the most effective way to westernize.
If the country is controlled by the AI, it can be annexed by the event The Doctrine of Lapse. There is not anything the country can do to prevent it, but it cannot happen to the player.
Mysore holds cores on three provinces which UK controls at the start of the game: Coimbarore, Mangalore and Calicut. If Mysore actually manages to achieve full independence, they might retake them either by crisis or conquest.
