Protectorate Denied is a Russian event, which is a direct consequence of the decision Defender of the Eastern Christendom. With the decision Russia tries to proclaim itself the defender of all Orthodox Christians in The Ottoman Empire.
It is the last part of an event chain, that can potentially lead to the Crimean War.
The decision gives all European great powers the event The Eastern Question, which gives them the choice between accepting the Russian title 'Protector of the Eastern Christendom' or denying it. If a single Great power chooses to deny it, the event "Protectorate Denied!" will fire.
There are two choices for Russia in this situation:
- Keeping the title anyway, which gives 0.1 prestige for the rest of the game, but gives the Great power in question a humiliate Casus Belli. If Russia chooses this option, the great power in question will lose 5 prestige.
- Giving up the title, which gives a negative 20 prestige.
If Russia kept the title anyway, but ever loses a war to a nation, that has denied the protectorate, it will lose the title of Proctector of Eastern Christendom and the prestige following it..
